Our third graders in the Sandcastle attended a FABULOUS field trip this week to Hammocks Beach State Park. Mrs. McCall was part of a program titled, "Schools in Parks Collaborative" which helped make this experience possible.
Schools in Parks Collaboratives is a year-long professional development program to foster increased confidence and sense of efficacy among 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teachers in using outdoor science learning approaches in state parks to support their curriculum objectives.
Additionally, Mrs. McCall applied for the "Learning Happens Here Field Trip Fund" through NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources to make this field trip, including lunch, entirely FREE for all students!

Book of the Month Club was a success this week! We discussed all things Balto, had our own version of the 1925 "Great Race", enjoyed some yummy Snowy Muddy Buddy treats, and received our Balto dog tag. Here's a video that captures some of the fun and learning!
